The design of this vintage gold and diamond necklace is based on the idea of a pattern.
The repeating comprises a rose-cut diamond, dressed in a black square using techniques inspired by Hyderabadikaam, atop two long leaves, set with brilliant-cut diamonds emanating from a ruby. Four rows of the repeating pattern, two on either side, meet at the center. The central unit is also a repetition of a similar-looking unit. Suspended from all decorations are fringes of seed pearls, along with gold and red enameled beads. The design showcases 10 man-hours of skillfulpirai, the craft of stringing beads using thin gold wire.
The black of the squares is typical to the Hyderabadi technique and is used to bring out the brilliance of the rose cuts.
